Please refer back to my first post for site specifications.

Data used to adjust Acorn sites at: Scone

About 250km north of Sydney.

But the station moved sometime in the last four years, probably from the house yard directly behind.  Here’s the old site plan:

Here’s the street view from 2010 before the screen was installed just metres from an A/C unit.

The old site was non-compliant, and the station was moved to the new site at the Aged Care facility which is also non-compliant, being near an air conditioning unit, near a large building, a road and a carpark.

This station is not compliant, but temperatures are reported at Latest Weather Observations.    Unreliable temperatures from here are also used to adjust data at Acorn sites.

  1. Bill in Oz Says:

An aged care home ! Wowee !

Another key consideration, there are cars constantly arriving, parking and leaving as staff arrive, and depart and as residents visitors arrive and depart…Aged care shifts usually begin at 7.00 am so that will effect the morning minimum temp. a lot with lots of staff scheduled for that period. The PM shifts usually take over at 3.00 pm with lots of staff scheduled for that period. Night shift usually starts at 11.00 pm and ends at 7.00 am with a much lower level of staffing.

Ohhh yes, and there is the big buildings themselves..

What ever was BOM thinking about ? Or were they simply asleep when the change was made.
