  1. Bill in Oz Says:

Quirindi population is ~ 2500 which is not huge. But this BOM weather station is right in the heart of the town so no doubt there is a UHI effect as well.

Wikipedia has a section on Quirindi’s climate based on BOM supplied information :

But in view of the location of the weather station in the heart of town, how accurate can it be ? Even the rain gauge recordings would be in accurate with all the rain shadow effect of the buildings.

yet the dat provided by the station is used to adjust the data at ACORN BOM weather station sites.

just a little tad incompetent !

  2. Glen MICHEL Says:

I was born in Quirindi and worked at the P.O in 1975 in between university years. One of my duties was to take measurements from the unit.

  3. Glen MICHEL Says:

I made a post previously which appears to have gone missing. That new police station and courtroom would certainly affect westerly winds. There used to be a toilet near the screen – now gone. A very enclosed site.
