Location: Co-ordinates   -31.5495 147.1961

The screen is right beside a large area of bare dirt from vehicle tracks.

This station is not compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at Acorn sites.

    Ahhh yes ! Nyngan airport !

    The staff there hardly need to get out of their 4WD to read the BOM weather station there on the side of the gravel track.
    Yet the data recorded here is used to adjust the temperature ay ACORN stations..

    Pretty dumb all round !

    BOM’s Nyngan weather station does have one thing going for it Ken. It is well outside the town of 2000 people. So there is no Urban Heat island effect on this station’s thermometer.

    But then putting it right next to what looks to me like a made tarred road – after a second look.

    Feels like we don’t need o bother with BOM’s guidelines. Just put it somewhere convenient.
