Lake Victoria is an interesting BOM weather station Ken. There is no town there just a few houses..So no UHI effect.

However Lake Victoria is a major water storage for South Australia along with Dartmouth dam & the Hume dam a long way up river. Water is transferred to lake Victoria from the Murray river during natural high flow periods and stored for when it is needed in South Australia later on in irrigation season. Natural inflow is very low as this is a semi desert area.

    Good source : https://www.mdba.gov.au/river-information/running-river-murray/lake-victoria

Lake Victoria is a very shallow water storage – maximum depth 5-6 meters but cover 12,000 ha. So there is a lot of evaporation from it. I wonder does this effect the BOM temperatures measured there. Though the station is a distance from the lake -200 to 250 meters probably to try and minimise this evaporative effecton temoeratures. ..

Ken do you look on Facebook ? Craig Kelly MP has just posted an article about the impact of the size of the Stevenson screens used. The new small ones introduced by BOM from the 1990’s lead to the thermometers recording slightly warmer temperatures than the old fashioned larger ones.
Just published this morning ! is this credible ?
