Please refer back to my first post for site specifications.

From a different position:

The screen is on a slope, 15 metres from a bitumen road, near large areas of bare rock, and in a tiny enclosure of a black powder-coated metal fence (which looks to be painted white in the satellite photo).

Stanthorpe takes turns with Applethorpe for being the coldest place in Queensland in summer and winter, but temperatures from here may be unreliable.

But this is a great site compared with the location in 1998!

And temperatures from the old site are used to adjust Amberley and Inverell in 1964 and 1961.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at Acorn sites.

Percentage of all sites not compliant: 11.74%

Interesting site Ken. In the close up view there is all the open lawn and trees. But if one looks at the site from afar.. It is clear that this BOM site is smack bang in the middle of the big town of Stanthorpe with it’s 5000 people. I wonder how much Urban Heat Island effect this bom site is measuring.
