I wonder why BOM finds finding compliant sites to hard to find ? And persists with non compliant sites like this which are used to bugger around with the data from other BOM weather stations like St George, Moree and Inverell which are part of it’s prized list of ACORN sites.

Bill you’ve got to be my keenest reader! Certainly most prolific commenter. Yes it has been a real eye opener for me that the BOM has such sites which they know can’t give accurate temperatures. And they claim that we can’t trust data from before 1910 because the sites and screens weren’t good enough supposedly. Hypocrisy, incompetence or agenda driven- or all three.

Ken, in a sense this is ‘personal’. As you know you started this series with the Mt Barker BOM weather site. And that site is just 150 meters away from my home. I took some photos of it & sent copies to Jo at Joanova Blog site. She forwarded them on to you. And you then initiated this investigative series.

Initially I did not believe that the BOM could be so incompetent. After all it is the professional tax payer funded authority here in Australia. But that view was completely naive.

So I am happy to spend my time, with additional information and perspectives which assist you in this series. .

And it is a task which I can do competently and some knowledge.

That is a vast contrast to so many of the “Global Warming” debates where ‘scientists’ parade charts purporting to represent the world’s temperatures and how they are, or are not, changing. Mind glazing stuff to me very often.

But here we are looking at the very basic features of the BOM’s temperature data gathering process. And the discoveries you are making are in effect ‘white anting’ the BOM’s assumed competence, expertise and professionalism.

But the task is a long way from finished.

    Cheers

    Bill
