Ken, you have said all that needs to be said about this BOM weather site.
So I have been thinking about the ‘wider’ meaning of it all. I have the feeling that BOM staffers, all over Australia, never thought anyone would ever check that their weather stations were compliant with BOM’s own guidelines. Guidelines designed to give accurate temperature and rainfall records all over Australia.
That would seem to spring from professional arrogance; we are the ‘experts’. We are beyond criticism.
This is a systemic failure in the BOM by a public service bureau.

Never forget incompetence. But you are right, they are ‘beyond criticism’.
