Good grief Ken ! You are finding some right BOM doozies !
“The screen is right beside a concrete slab and a picnic bench; within a few metres of a shed or cottage; within 10 metres of a house and trees; and 15 metres from a 26m tall and wide lighthouse.”

I’ve been wondering what all these close by human added features would do to the thermometer record at Sandy Cape on Fraser Island, Qld.

1: These human added features will all accumulate heat from the sun shining on them during the day. And slowly cool down during the night when the sun is not shining.
2: So the thermometer will tend to show higher maximums during the days ( especially in the afternoons ) and warmer minimum temperatures in the early morning around dawn.

3; They will also block winds on the thermometer in the Stevenson screen with varying effects on the temperature depending on the direction and time of day.
4: The large tree may also shade the Stevenson screen and affect the temperature recorded as a result.
