The 2 metre wire fence casts a shadow: it is probably thickly overgrown with weeds and grass.  The “track” on the other side of the fence appears to be a sprayed out area beside the fence, and it looks to be similarly treated on the screen side as well.  On the other side of the fence is a wide (>50 metres) area of bare gravel used for parking trucks and road trains.  The area around the screen was “mown grass” in 2014 but in 2010 it was “grass to 1 metre”.  The screen is less than 60 metres from the airport apron.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at Acorn sites.

Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 17.82%.

    Spot on Ken !

It would be hard to find a site for a weather station which is less representative of the district ! This is a remote part of Australia with lots of country which has been less affected by urban development & UHI effect.

But this site has lots of bare ground around it. There is bare gravel for road trains close by, and a high fence close by which is over grown with climbing plants and so blocks off the winds from the North & East.
