The screen is 15 metres from a drain and 20 metres from a road.  The satellite photo plainly shows vehicles regularly drive through the site within a couple of metres of the screen, creating bare soil and dust which coats the screen and probably enters it, coating the temperature probe.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations but not used to adjust data at Acorn sites.

FAIL

Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 17.96%.

  1. Bill In Oz Says:

Once again Ken you are spot on. The BOM has placed this weather station site where there is a huge impact from human activities happening on the island’s airport..

And there is so much other land which is unaffected where a BOM weather station could be located & provide accurate information.
