BOM site plan 2016:

Google satellite image 2019:

Google street view 2008:

This is an Acorn site. The screen is a couple of metres from a concrete footpath on two sides, and under 7 metres from a wide bitumen street, and 8 metres from another street. Its position in an open grassy area is negated by being close to unrepresentative surface on two sides.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at other Acorn sites.

Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 18.65%.

Barcaldine is a pretty hot place. But the temperatures being measured by the BOMs thermometer are probably being boosted by the hot concrete paths and the hot sealed roads.

This is not an accurate measurement of temperature. Yet BOM lists this an ACORN site & uses these inaccurate readings to adjust the temperature records at Charleville, Longreach, Richmond.

Now that seems pretty unprofessional and incompetent to me.
