Sunday 13/10/2019

Please refer back to my first post for site specifications and to No. 92- Logan City for 2018 specifications.  If you wish to check on this (or any) site for yourself, go to my post on how to check for yourself.

Station: Cunnamulla Post Office 44026

Opened: 1879

Daily Temperature data from: 1957

Data used to adjust Acorn sites at: Barcaldine, Birdsville, Bourke, Charleville, Moree, St George, Thargomindah, Tibooburra, Walgett. (I think that’s a record so far.)

Location:   Co-ordinates  -28.0689 145.6822

725km west of Brisbane.

BOM site plan 2018:

Google satellite image 2019:

Google street view 2008:

The site is obstructed by buildings and phone booths, and is too close to concrete footpaths, bitumen streets, and trees.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at distant Acorn sites.

FAIL

Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 19.2%.

  1. Bill In Oz Says:

    Ohhhhh Buger, bugger, bugger !
The BOM has inaccurate temperature readings from this weather station at Cunnamulla, feeding into the adjusted temperature readings for EIGHT other ACORN stations !

This is classic Garbage In = Garbage Out nonsense !

I wonder how many of the 112 ACORN stations are not contaminated with this nonsense ?

  2. Graeme No.3 Says:

    Bill,
you should ask “Are there any Acorn stations that AREN’T adjusted?”
Try The Australian today (Mon Oct.14) and the article by Maurice Newman.
Some of Ken’s results are mentioned but not Ken by name. Probably just as well judging by some of the comments from sillyfilly, Russ etc.
I think Ken wouldn’t want a horde of rabid greenies abusing him.
