The Wacky World of Weather Stations: No. 145- Point Stuart (NT)

115km east-north-east of Darwin.

The screen is very close to trees. With access only along a fence line the site will be completely inaccessible during and after the Wet. With no maintenance the site will be completely overgrown with grass and weeds for a large part of the year.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations but not used to adjust data at Acorn sites.


Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 20.03%.

    This BOM station is in the midst of a swampland Ken… And the river which pours water into the swamp is also extending it’s delta out to sea.

    I am not sure how this affects the temperature readings or even if it does at all..
    But it does make access to do and checks or maintenance very problematic.
