Opened: 1953

Daily Temperature data from: 1965

Data used to adjust Acorn sites at: Alice Springs, Giles.

Location:   Co-ordinates  -25.3139 131.7571

280km south-west of Alice Springs, 80km east of Uluru.

The screen is very close to bare dirt tracks, shrubs and buildings.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at Acorn sites.

FAIL

Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 20.86%.

    The Google earth image shows large semi and 4WD & trailer parked a few meters away from the BOM weather station.
    Clearly that dirt track passing close by is used for all manner of vehicle access.So once again dust n the screen and maybe the electronic temperature probe itself.

    My son works at Yulara and sometimes does some work at Curtin Springs. I have asked him for some photos next time he is over that way.
