Tuesday 22/10/2019

Please refer back to my first post for site specifications and to No. 92- Logan City for 2018 specifications.  If you wish to check on this (or any) site for yourself, go to my post on how to check for yourself.

Station: Newman Aero 7176

Opened: 1971

Daily Temperature data from: 1996

Data used to adjust Acorn sites at: Marble Bar, Wittenoom.

Location:   Co-ordinates  -23.4167 119.7992

420km south-east of Karratha, 1,035km north-east of Perth.

BOM site plan 2014:

Google satellite image 2019:

This is one of the worst airport sites I have seen so far- up there with Gladstone and Sydney. It is surrounded by bare dirt, gravel, bitumen, buses and trucks, and a large building, at one of WA’s busiest FIFO airports. The airport has got busier over the years, and in one carpark gravel has been replaced by bitumen.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at Acorn sites.

FAIL

Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 22.65%.
