One Response to “The Wacky World of Weather Stations: No. 167- Leinster (WA)”

  1. Bill In Oz Says:

Leinster is another mining town. Nickel ore is the main item mined though gold was also mined at another mine nearby as well. Wikipedia lists it as having ~700 people. But I suspect that most of the workforce are now fly In FIFO as the area is in a hot desert landscape.

Thus the BOM weather station was set up to serve the aircraft flying in and out.
But as you say it is giving inaccurate temperature readings as it does not meet the BOM’s guidelines.

And it should never have been used to adjust the BOM’s Kalgoorlie Boulder ACORN data !
