The Wacky World of Weather Stations: No. 170- Carnegie (WA)

Station: Carnegie 13015

Opened: 1942

Data used to adjust Acorn sites at: Giles, Meekatharra.

Location:   Co-ordinates  -25.7964 122.9753

975km north-east of Perth.

The screen is 4 metres from a bare dirt track, 15 metres from a shed, 15 metres from large trees, and 13 metres from watered grass. This site is better than some, but still doesn’t meet specifications.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at Acorn sites.

FAIL

Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 23.48%.

    Yes Ken this site is more compliant than some. But still there are those tall trees just to the North of the BOM weather station and the buildings as well ..

    It’s in a nice sheltered spot there !
