We can be grateful for one thing- that shipping container protects the screen from the broad expanse of bitumen boat trailer park! Not from the road, or the boats parked around it, unfortunately.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations but thankfully not used to adjust data at Acorn sites.

Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 24.86%.

  1. Bill In Oz Says:

    Huhh, Ken ?

That is a huge longer container.. And it’s an all metal affair.. Metal absorbs energy from the sun very easily. So it will get hot quickly and then re-radiate that I/R heat energy back out.

And that BOM weather station at Mandurah is very close by,

And the container shields the weather station from any Southerly winds as well.

of course there is the tarred road and all the other buildings as well, adding to the local UHI effect on the BOM thermometer,
