This is a good illustration of how surroundings can change in under 5 years. In 2014 the site was decidedly non-compliant, very close to bare dirt. The satellite image shows the area just over the fence well vegetated, but nearby a large circular area (centre pivot irrigation?) of bare dirt with what could be grape vines radiating from the centre.

There is a dam 50 metres to the north, and a large area of factories and sheds 130 metres to the west. The main problem is that the instrument enclosure has been spayed out, and the screen is on bare dirt.

Moorabbin is Melbourne’s main secondary airport and is very busy. The screen is 30 metres from a taxiway, 70m from a helipad, 80 metres from a runway turning point, 25m from a road, and 55 metres from a large dirt stockpile. It was moved here from a location that was being built out between 2003 and 2006.

Looks not too bad, which is why I passed over it in the first round in this series. But have a look at the satellite image, and it seems the Bureau site plan left out something…

In the last few years (since September 2014, the last street view) the clear grassy paddock across the road has been converted into a huge gravel quarry, over 5 hectares of bare soil. Also, the area around the screen appears to have been sprayed out to bare soil.
