Ken this weather station looks like it’s in a very sandy area. There is lots of yellow sand showing where the scrub has been cleared away.

What is the effect of high albedo on the temperature of the area ?

  2. Graeme No.3 Says:

Is there a specification for the ground under the screen? So far it seems that bitumen, sand, gravel and grass are considered OK.
Did I miss concrete? How about some Colorbond sheets lying flat under the screen, that should boost the global warming.

    • William in Oz Says:

Graeme should we accuse them of deliberate actions which falsift the temperature records ? Or perhaps simply accuse them of incompetence and being slack ?

Both will have the same result !

  3. William in Oz Says:

The Stevenson screen is surrounded by lots of bare sandy soil which exposed to sunlight will get very hot.
