Data used to adjust Acorn sites at: Cunderdin, Dalwallinu, Wandering. (Many other stations before 1970 – Albany, Bridgetown, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie-Boulder, Merredin, Morawa, Perth Airport.)

Northam weather station is located in the middle of an old bowling green roughly 40 metres across, so all else being equal it should be a good site. However, if you refer to the above images you will note that has 1.5 metre solid asbestos fibro fences on two sides, and 2.5 metre banks on the other two sides, so it is in an artificial hollow- one of the no-no’s. It is protected on all sides. (The station was moved here from another site between 1998 and 2005.)

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at Acorn sites.

FAIL

Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 29.7%.

    This just goes to show that an on the spot sighting often reveals what is almost hidden on Google earth. Good that Jo went & had a look and took the photos !

    BOM FAILED again for the 215th time !
