Opened: 1880

Daily Temperature data from: 1910

Data used to adjust Acorn sites at: Deniliquin, Mildura, (and others earlier last century)

Location:   Co-ordinates  -35.7236 143.9197

250km north-west of Melbourne.

The screen is 7 metres from a bare dirt road, 16 metres from a solid steel colourbond fence, and 20 metres from trees.

This Acorn station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at other Acorn sites.

FAIL

Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 34.25%.

    Ken this is definitely slightly more compliant than many others we have looked at. After all those trees, the fence & the houses are about 20 meters away and there is some grass under the screen – not bare dirt or gravel.

    But….. from the tyre tracks on that bare dirt road is used as there is a lot of bush basher traffic in the area. Lots of dust on the temperature probe !

    And it is located smack in the middle of Kerang with it’s UHI effect.
