Opened: 1984

Data used to adjust Acorn sites at: Sale, Wilsons Promontory.

Location:   Co-ordinates  -38.2094 146.4746

139km south-east of Melbourne CBD.

The screen is 35 metres from the aircraft apron, a large expanse of tarmac.

This station is non-compliant, with temperatures reported at Latest Weather Observations and used to adjust data at Acorn sites.


Percentage of all Australian sites not compliant: 36.88%.

    Yes Ken the BOM staff who set this up forgot the rule book like al the others. Not compliant = FAIL !

    Well this BOM station is at an airport located smack bang between the two regional cities of Morwell & Traralgon. Population used to be up over 30,000 but that has reduced due to the electricity privitisation process..

    But there is still a big UHI effect happening in the Latrobe Valley. And data from this site is used to adjust the data from the Prom BOM site !
    Utter nuts !
