The screen is on an embankment, and close to large areas of gravel, roadbase, and a dirt track, with a bluemetal path to the screen. There’s even a galvanised iron fence.

The screen is a few metres from two bitumen circles with a vehicle track. While the screen is far enough from the aircraft apron to avoid propwash, this is too close to a very wide area of tarmac. Until 2001 there was an area of bare ground near the windsock, labelled “helipad” though it seems unlikely helicopters would be permitted so close to a windsock.
